The inspiration in enhancing and making the best use of the outside environment came to being from courses at the Botanic Gardens, arranged by Mr. Trevor Roach who was always full of enthusiasm, commitment and expertise. Our connection with the Botanical Gardens secured excellent opportunities for the children at Llandeilo Primary School. During our exciting time of tending a plot at the gardens we learned so much. The children began to learn about the amazing world of plants. We were excited by the amount of ideas that we brought away with us, ideas which could be adapted and utilised within our own school environment. This led to the beginning of the 'Gardening Club', a truly successful club where we had between 55 and 85 pupils attending each session! The children, staff, governors and community have worked so hard to get an allotment up and running. We began by locating 'spare' ground which would be suitable. Then the hard work began! From the early days, when the area was rather bare, our allotment has grown into a real productive area that is a place to relax and enjoy as well as to work and learn. Why not arrange to come and visit, you will receive a warm welcome! Please click on a picture to enlarge it |
